I met little Yvette on her due date in early December. I just loved that even though they were total strangers, chatting with Tanya in the weeks leading up to Yvie's arrival, made walking into their session feel like I was visiting an old friend. We had the most relaxed lifestyle session with all the good Sunday morning vibes, and both Tanya and Josh were so amazing with their daughter only eight days in, it was clear baby Yvette hit the jackpot when it comes to awesome parents!
I kind of feel like I hit the jackpot too when it comes to clients. I think it is so important for families to be a good fit with the photographer they hire, and I try to be very transparent about the style I shoot in, my abilities, and what I produce from a session. I always advise potential clients to view my portfolio and blogged sessions similar to what they want to book - to ensure that I am the right fit for them. I also tend to ask a lot of questions beforehand to try to get a vibe for what each family is looking for, to make sure they are the right kind of client for me.
And Tanya and Josh couldn't have been more my right kind of client! They wanted natural images and a relaxed candid experience done in the comfort of their own home. Awesome. But what really made them so perfect to capture was how involved they both were - with little Yvie, and with each other. The love and concern for this new Mama from her husband was as apparent as the magic they felt when staring at their baby. And I just loved that this new Daddy never disappeared into the shadows, but rather was there to help settle, hold, bundle, change, and just straight up love on his baby girl. My favourite moments were all the sweet little touches, and the story that is told in between all the portraits. They also let me get some serious newborn snuggles in for myself - and it is crazy how quickly you forget what 6lbs feels like when you're used to carrying a 18lb baby around at home! Haha!
I hope you enjoy this session! Yvie, you were such a sweet end to my year!
