It's been a Winter wonderland here lately, but before I dive into the snow I have some blogging to catch up on from the incredible Autumn we had! We have picked apples at my friend's family orchard for the last few years and it is one of the most serene places. Living close to the escarpment definitely provides some excellent locations for photography! I was so excited to do a family session here, and even moreso when it was our neighbours who booked it!
Anyone can pick apples, but for this family the orchard location couldn't have suited them more perfectly. Their parents have a farm a little farther south and they take the kids there often to visit and slow down, living the country lifestyle, playing outside in the field, climbing trees, and swinging on the tire swing. Our orchard session just felt like home, and we treated it with more of a documentary style - wandering between the apple trees, picking and sampling - with the occasional stop for family portraits. This is exactly the type of session I am looking to do more of moving forward.
We have been neighbours with the Hodgson's for almost 5 years (woah!) and honestly we couldn't feel more lucky. They are the kindest people who always put others before themselves, and have been a huge help to us at any moments notice, without hesitation. Our sons have grown closer over the past couple years and I myself have felt a huge shift in our relationship from sweet neighbours to important friends. Our session came at a time of immense joy for the family, and I feel so privileged to be the one to capture it. I feel their love and strong connection coming through each image, and I hope you can too!
